Wiluna West Iron Project
- Major high grade iron resource project
- Iron Resource 86.3 million tonnes @ 60.1% Fe, Interim Inferred Mineral Resource already outlined
The estimate represents a 72% increase on the maiden Inferred Mineral Resource of 50.1 million tonnes @ 61% Fe which was announced by the Company in April 2007 and keeps the Company on track to attain its near term target resource of 100 million tonnes as additional results from the current drilling campaign are received.
The initial resource reported for Wiluna West in April 07 comprised the C3 and C4 deposits on C Ridge and the Bowerbird, Bowerbird North, Joyners Find and Joyners North deposits on B Ridge.
The new estimate, completed by international mining consultants Snowden, includes initial resource estimates for the C1, C2, C5 and C Regional deposits. Snowden estimated the combined Inferred Mineral Resource for all six deposits tested on the northen 23 kilometre section of the C Ridge, including C3 and C4, at 63.3 million tonnes @ 59.4% Fe.
The work undertaken by Snowden has also identified a number of areas on C Ridge with the potential to further boost resources as drilling continues both along strike and at depth beneath the existing Inferred Mineral Resource.
Golden West Resources believes these results further underline the potential of its high grade iron resource at the Wiluna West Project, where it has to date only systematically worked the northern 23 kilometres of B & C Ridges.
Extensional and infill drilling indicates portions of the C3 deposit are more robust than previously thought, and is expected to yield a significant upgrade of the C3 resource. Numerous high grade RC drilling intercepts returned at the Joyners Find North deposit; including 7m @ 63.9% Fe from 65m; 7m @ 63.9% Fe from 28m and 10m @ 61.3% Fe from 17m. Revised resource block modelling is underway to incoporate all available data.
Doherty's Project
- High grade gold deposit 25,700 tonnes @ 23.8 g/t Au for 20,430 Oz gold
The Doherty's gold project is located in the Barrambie Greenstone Belt approximately 100 kilometres south west of the Wiluna West project and 65 kilometres north of Sandstone. The project contains an indicated resource of 25,700 tonnes @ 23.8 g/t gold for a contained 20,430 ounces of gold.
